The Biscuter
Spain built many microcars during the 1950s, (David, Clua, P.T.V. Triver etc) but most popular was the Biscuter.  It was designed by Gabriel Voisin who was better known for his designs of luxury French cars and built in Barcelona by Autonacional.  It was powered by a 197cc Hispano-Villiers two stroke engine which drove the front wheels.  The basic model was this open two seater but a four seater estate and a glassfibre bodied coupé called the Plastico were also built.  Although it did not survive into the sixties it was definitely one of the more successful microcars with up to 20,000 sold.
The Biscuter was made in Spain by 'Anguplas' in their Mini Cars series.   It is Moulded in silver plastic to a scale of 1:87.  The model shows the original red seat and black steering column.  There are two Biscuters made by Anguplas, the second has the addition of a canvas top.

Also from Spain is this 1:43 resin kit made by JAL.  It is current today (2000) so if you have good eyes and a steady hand you too could build your own Biscuter.

I should say a very steady hand!

Not quite as cute as the original Biscuter, the Model 200-C looks a little more practical.   There are many Spanish models and toys of the Biscuter, for more information try to get hold of Manuel Garriga's excellent book,  ISBN 84-8128-065-8 (Spanish language).
