| The BMW 600 was only produced between 1957 and 1959 but
deserved a longer lifespan. It was a grown up version of the Isetta with 4 wheels, 4
seats and 2 doors, the front door similar to the Isetta and a side door to the rear
seats. The engine was based on the 600 cc boxer twin from the BMW motorcycle but
linked with a full syncromesh gearbox. It could generate 19.5 hp, enough for a top
speed of over 60 mph. |
| The
blue model is by the German maker, Schuco in the usual scale of 1:43, (Schuco have taken
over from Gama, who made the Isetta above). This particular model was released in
early 1999 in a black 'BMW' box with the only reference to Schuco moulded on the base of
the model. It is up to the high standards set by Schuco with very fine
detailing. The front door should open but it is so stiff I am not going to tug on
it, they have come off in my hand before now! |

The yellow and red models are original GAMA from the 1960s. They are
diecast with a tinplate base, windows but no interior. Did they make any other
colours other than red or yellow? |
