These models are not the original issue from the 1950s.  They are reproductions made with the original dies from 1994 by the French firm of    
Louis Surber SA.  They are part of a series of 15 different castings which also include the Vespa 400 and Isetta Velam.  An original Quiralu 'Schmitt has a black baseplate, a driver and a high  price tag!  These reproductions are issued in almost original boxes but have shiny tinplate Quiralu Re issues
baseplates and do not feature the driver.  The canopy is also quite different when they are closely compared.  I almost bought an original mint and boxed Quiralu Messerschmitt back in 1978, but the 18 pounds was outside my budget!  I have since seen the same thing for 400 pounds but at least these replicas enable us poor folk to indulge a little.
