SIKU

Siku was founded in Germany as a foundry  in the early 1920s. In 1950 the factory was making buttons when the name Siku was first coined derived from Sieper Kunstoffe (from the name of the founder and the German word for plastic).  Early toys included figures and farm animals until 1955 when the first range of 1:60 plastic models was introduced.  These were made up to 1963 when Siku changed over to diecast models.  They are still going strong today but it is in the first range of plastic vehicles that the microcars are to be found.

I hope to add more details re colours etc when I can translate the 'prospectus', in the meantime a few snippets.....

All the models are 1:60 scale.
They are made of three plastic pieces for base, body and windows, with a metal weight inside, sometimes in the form of a seat.
They are designated as Vxx and also VxxF for two coloured models.
Some had original boxes but most didn't.
