Front engine Subaru R2 by Tomica
Subaru R2
The original Subaru 360  was totally redesigned in 1970 and became the R2.  It still had the 360cc engine with 32 hp but now had the luxury of a fully synchronised 4 speed gearbox.   Maximum speed was now up to 115 km/h (71mph). Subaru 360s & R2
Subaru   is the trade name of the car sector of Fuji heavy Industries. A group with interests as diverse as aircraft, shipbuilding, railways as well as cars and light commercials.   They still produce microcars, the 4wd 660cc Vivio.

The model is by Tomica in 1:54 scale, No.9.  My first example came in a 6 car set with various other large Hondas Toyotas etc although I have since seen a single issue of the model, but with the bonnet painted black, (looks awful)

There is also a dark blue metallic and a pale blue (shown).  These are specially made for a shop in Japan called 'Hochland',
(the rest is in Japanese!)
