Type 16-250, 1953 Velorex
The Velorex
The Velorex is as close to the most minimal car you can get.  A steel tube framework with some wood and all covered in leather cloth.  Built in Hradec Kralove, (Czechoslovakia) from 1953 until 1971 the Velorex is powered by  a Jawa 2 stroke engine, a choice between 125, 250 or 350cc.  Acceleration is surprisingly quick and a top speed of over 80 mph is not for the faint hearted. Velorex
The model above is also from Czechoslovakia and is hand made in 1:87scale.  It was in a box marked 'ARTAPO' but I don't know anymore about the maker.  It is a replica of a type 16-250 from 1953.
Budig-ModelAuto
A hand built model, I think in resin (but don't hold me to it) as sold by Robert Budig of ModelAutos of Berlin.  It is described as from an 'unknown maker' but has a reference number UB074.  Still available early 2010.
